Hog Bristle fans were brushes I took a chance on, and I'm glad I did. I was previously used to using soft synthetic taklon bristle fans for really gentle blending applications, so these are fairly different. The long handles encourage the user to put a little comfortable distance between the painting surface and themselves, and by proxy it'll help lengthen your stroke and embolden you to work bigger. I'm using the extra stiffness these fans offer for texturing in underpainting with oils. The spacing of the bristles is a little wide for what I prefer to do close-up, which is when having some of Trekell's 6" golden taklon fans to switch to for a careful touch with blending comes in handy. For effects in hair and textured surfaces though, the hog bristle fans open up a lot of possibilities.
