Artist Statement
"I believe in
art that inspires the spirit while engaging the mind." - Gail
Sauter
Quickly glimpsed moments
often become the ones that we remember the longest. By triggering
our visual memories, they remind us of places we've been and people we've
known. Although details and
features blur, the essence of the moment
remains and re-emerges with sudden clarity bringing the past to life again. I
find magic in these fleeting moments, their transition from what we see into what
we remember, and the way they linger and dwell within us.

Gail Sauter has always known she would be an artist. Today, that is her vocation
and her passion. As a child, she moved often with her family (her father was in
the military). Living in different cultures and in many parts of the United
States has given her an insight into the universality of people around the
world. This is an important thrust of her work today and she travels extensively
to paint on location. She feels it is important that artists reach out and
connect one with another and share their sameness while celebrating their
differences. Painting is her vehicle for expressing those deep connections and
speaking a universal language across cultures.
