"I am a full-time artist working in oils. My
paintings are traditional and are limited in my use of color. I want them to be
about the scene, not flashes of color for the sake of a decor. I paint
landscapes, figures and still lives and sell my work in galleries. I also teach
painting workshops in the south, and enjoy sharing my love for painting with
others. My painting style is realism, but it's not tight. It is painterly with
a limited pallet, usually 3-4 colors. My landscape plein air work is looser than
the large studio paintings that are produced from plein air studies and
photographs. My still life work is painted directly from life over 2-3 sittings
and within a day or two. Landscapes sometimes take longer as most are larger. I
love what I do and hope that it shows the feeling that I have for my subject
matter in my paintings."

About Trekell brushes:
"Brushes are important to me- the tools I use every day.
I found the Trekell hog bristle brushes
through my artist friend, Timothy Tyler. He had
put them on his supply list for his workshop students, and he said he liked them
a lot. So I first ordered a set in filberts, and then I ordered my favorites
sizes in flats…Over time I’ve ordered various types that are on the website -and
I like them all. I still use all those
same brushes. I highly recommended them
to my students and encourage artist friends to try them because they are good
quality “workhorse” brushes.Trekell brushes are also a good value, and they will stand up
to rough use over time."
