Trekell stocks three versions: Gloss does exactly what the name implies, applying a semi-gloss of perfect consistency over your work’s surface; Satin’s gloss-level is lower without losing the deepening and balancing properties of its sibling; and Matte works in the inverse, lessening sheen while making sure deep values still pop.
All three do the job to such a degree that you’ll question why you kept those traditional varnishes around for so long.
And how about this for a bonus? Gamvar has little to no smell and it’s premixed.

I am not sure why, but the matte varnish left my painting look very streaky. I shook the product before I used it and my painting was completely dry. I never had this issue with the gloss varnish from Gamvar. Based on thus experience I would not recommend the matte varnish.

You have to use it really thin especially on very smooth paintings or brush strokes show. I do love using it though and love that it can be removed if necessary without damaging the painting below.

Clean, even coverage & no brush strokes when dried. Will definitely continue to use this varnish to protect work. Dry time takes a little longer but it worth the wait. Thank you.
