After talking to artists and listening to their needs, Michael Harding specifically formulated his primer to be non-absorbent.
This means artists will no longer be frustrated by the dullness of paint which has had the oil drawn out resulting in a flat, muted looking paint surfaces.
Countless numbers of artists have called him over the years asking the question, “Why has my paint gone dull overnight?” His question in return; “Did you paint upon an acrylic primed surface?” The replies have always been, “Yes how did you know?”
Although this product is non-absorbing it will provide a strong bond to the layers of paint applied with just enough tooth so as not to be greasy in feel.
The result after painting upon my non-absorbent acrylic primer: oil paint colours that look as though you have just brushed them on to your canvas and a long-lasting support that will not decay over the years!

I've only used it a couple times since purchasing, but I love how much smoother it flows and adheres to surface in comparison to regular acrylic gesso. It dries very fast and I'm very pleased.

I simply love this primer. It creates a beautiful ground that keeps your paint fresh looking as it dries. It really minimizes sink in and takes the paint wonderfully. I can't wait until the tinted varieties are available in the U.S. The only thing as good as this primer are Michael Harding paints. :)

I have no time for oil ground these days (yay, having a kindergartener at home 24/7!) so this has been amazing to use. Very little prep, very little clean up, and it is just as good as oil ground for preparing a raw panel.

This gesso ground is amazing and it applies so easy thab any other gesso brands out there! For now on this will be my favorite gesso for my oil paintings I recommend it!

This is so much faster and easier to use than oil ground. Amazing coverage and dries quickly. You can completely prime your surface and be ready to oil paint in the same day. The finished surface is as good as using a traditional oil ground. Easy clean up with water.
