Trekell Pro Team Artist, Nick Runge, has released his first brush set with Trekell!  Designed with watercolor paint in mind, this set comes with 3 Protege brushes on short, black handles with Nick's signature:

#4 Round - Used for precision and detail work
#14 Round - Used for painting abstract shapes and moving water around
3/4" Wash Brush - Used for large, sharp shapes. Towards the end of the painting, laying in larger dark or colorful pigment in big sections

Each set includes a sticker and a header card featuring the artist's artwork.

Protege brushes are made from a synthetic filament, meant to mimic a natural hair Kolinsky brush.  Although this set was put together for the watercolorist, it will work with oil, acrylic, enamel and gouache paint as well.

Trust in the selection!

Being a fan of Nick Runge's art, I stumbled on Trekell through his page and have made several orders. I had not how ever bought a set of brushes yet. With this release I wasn't sure, as I normally use natural bristles and the sizes of the brushes seemed SO big given I don't work larger than about 12x12. TRUST IN TREKELL. I have had these brushes now for a few months to give them a good try before a review I am absolutely amazed by how keen a point they keep and how surprisingly thirsty they are. While initially the brushes seemed huge, they provide even flat washes and even the 14 round can pull out some of the finest details.

Great brushes with a fine point

I love this brush set and it's well suited for painting in Nick's style - you can do dry brush technique but also put down washes (I do watercolor and egg tempera mostly). Not really a soft, squishy feel if you're looking for that - this is going to hold a lot of water but keep its point really well. That's what I love about it. I haven't tried it for egg tempera but I think it would probably work great for the line work in egg. Really versatile.

Nick Runge set

Gorgeous brushes on short handles! I haven’t used them yet, but expect great results like other Trekell brushes I’ve recently purchased. Debating which medium to use them with first!

Why can’t I paint just like Nick Runge instantly?

My only disappointment is that these brushes don’t make me instantly paint like Nick. Fantastic synthetic Kolinsky, ideal for detailing in watercolor
