Pro Team Artist: Mab Graves

Mab Graves, self-proclaimed World’s Worst Brush Mom, is a self-taught artist specializing in oil painting and telling stories using symbolism and drawing on her joie de vivre. She’s a pop-surrealist artist with an incredible following and an ethereal, otherworldly fairy vibe. Trekell has been thrilled to work with her as a Pro Team Artist; Mab has designed her own limited edition brush and panel set for us that works with several mediums and is wonderfully versatile.

From Graves’ Etsy store:  “People don’t buy my paintings, they adopt my little girls. My greatest goal in letting my darlings go is that they will pass from my loving arms to yours.

To delight, inspire, and vaguely creep you out.”
Mab paints about 16 hours daily! She started out loving crayons and then moved on to graphite pencils and pens in her childhood and teens. She began painting circa 2009 and her work has been shown in galleries all over the world and has appeared in all media and sold in over 70 countries.

Mab currently resides and paints in Indianapolis, Indiana in a converted 1800s tavern. Her favorite Trekell products are the Cat’s Tongue brushes and Golden Taklons. She also counteracts her World’s Worst Brush Mom status with Trekell Brush Restorer.

Each year, Mab hosts Drawlloween, a list of prompts for artists to inspire spooktastic art during the month of October. You can find the prompts on her Instagram as well as by searching the hashtags #mabsdrawlloweenclub and #mabsdrawlloweenclub2020. You don’t have to be a painter to participate; the list is available to any artist using any medium, so check it out and get inspired. (We've included Mabs Drawlloween promt list below, if you're curious!)
