Trekell Gothic Abbey Floater Panel combines a distinctive architectural shape with our built-in floater panel design, giving artists a ready-to-display Baltic Birch surface with the appearance of an integrated frame.

Inspired by Gothic and medieval architecture, the tall arched painting area and decorative outer silhouette create a dramatic format for portraits, sacred imagery, dark art, fantasy, botanical subjects, surreal work, and other compositions that benefit from a more unconventional shape.

The entire panel is cut from a single piece of premium 1/2" B/BB Grade Baltic Birch. A 1/4" routed gap separates the central painting surface from the surrounding outer frame, creating the visual effect of a floating panel without requiring a separate frame.

The surface is pre-sanded with 180-grit sandpaper and left unprimed so you can prepare it for your preferred medium and technique. With proper preparation, the panel can be used with oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, encaustic, ink, enamel, charcoal, pencil, pastel, pyrography, and mixed media.

Preparing Your Panel

This panel arrives unprimed so you can prepare the surface for your preferred medium. Oil and acrylic artists can seal and prime the Baltic Birch with their preferred ground, while watercolor artists should apply watercolor ground or mount watercolor paper to the painting surface.

For pyrography or techniques where you want to work directly on the natural Baltic Birch, the pre-sanded surface can be used without applying a painting ground.
