Trekell Gesso Primed Traditional Profile Panels combine a professionally prepared painting surface with a basswood cradle for a classic profile that can be displayed with or without a frame.

This 6" x 6" panel features a 1/8" tempered hardboard face mounted to a 3/4" basswood cradle for an overall depth of approximately 7/8". The painting surface is sealed with Golden GAC 100 and hand-rolled with four coats of acrylic gesso, creating a lightly textured surface with a consistent tooth.

Designed for oil and acrylic painting, the panel requires no additional sealing or priming. Its rigid construction provides a stable painting surface, while the traditional profile offers a clean, versatile presentation for finished artwork.

The Story Behind the Panel

George H. Simkins, father of Trekell artist Greg Simkins, worked with Trekell to develop these cradled wood panels, creating a rigid painting surface with a traditional profile designed for both painting and presentation.
