Trekell Pro Team Artist, Julie Beck, has compiled her favorite Trekell brushes to create a new Limited Edition Set. This brush set features a selection of our Spectrum brushes on 10” lilac and silver handles. These brushes work with all media and come with a sticker featuring her work.
“These brushes are my go-to for a wide variety of applications. From general painting to building form, to fine-tuning nuanced details in a final pass. The brights give me multiple mark-making possibilities for the paint layers that have the biggest impact. They can mass-in solid areas with a flat stroke, create thin and precise lines with a side-to-side motion, and the corners act almost like a round. The small round included is ideal for a more organic gesture for lines or putting on those specular highlights."
Julie Beck was born and raised in Western Upstate New York. From 1998 to 2002, she attended Roger Williams University in Rhode Island where she graduated valedictorian with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics.
A move to Massachusetts introduced her to the Academy of Realist Art, Boston which catapulted her work to a new level. Since then, Julie has become both an instructor at, as well as the Assistant Director of ARA Boston.
Julie’s work has won such honors as the 2013 and 2016 Gold Medal, and the 2018 Silver Medal at the Guild of Boston Artists, Best in Show for the Richeson 2016 and 2019 Annual Still life and Floral Competition, 1st place in the Savvy Painter Competition, 3rd place at the Grand Central Atelier Still Life Painting Competition, won the 2020 First Place Still life in the 2020 ARC Salon in which she has also been a finalist 7 years in a row with honorable mention.
She is also a Fellow at the Saint Botolph Club in Boston and her show “Our Hands are Full of Color” was on display at the University of Maine Museum of Art for the summer of 2019. Julie’s work can be found in private collections throughout the US and internationally.
Julie is currently working out of her personal studio at ARA Boston, where she creates work with a wide range of painting subjects including narrative still life paintings and animal/figurative works.
“Your tools make a huge difference in your creative process. Not only have I personally experienced this, but as an instructor, I am constantly witnessing how junky supplies can hinder learning.
Painting is hard enough to have to struggle with your supplies!! I’m not always in the mood for happy accidents, especially when it comes to details and the solid construction of a painting. These brushes give me complete control over what I’m doing.
Trekell’s brushes not only hold up to the daily abuse I put them through, but they are also extremely affordable for the consistent high quality they offer. This makes it ideal for my students as well as for my professional work."
