Trekell’s Protégé line is an ingeniously engineered, synthetic alternative to Kolinsky sable-hair - a classic brush filament known for its retention and performance properties. The Protégé brush has inherited those traits, boasting the same thirsty belly and insanely sharp point as its ancestor.
The big difference is the increased durability. So, while those old, expensive hairs are increasingly harder to come by - a Protégé will always be there for you.

It's no wonder they are among Trekell Pro Team Artists Glenn Arthur, Tony Curanaj and Alyssa Mees favorite brushes along with many, many artists worldwide. Check out what this happy customer said about our Protégé line:
Having become disenchanted with pricey, famous name select Kolinsky sable brushes, I have been extremely--to say the least--pleased with my switch to Trekell synthetic "Kolinsky."
I find the synthetic fiber and fabrication to yield a more consistent and reliably-shaped brush than my last many purchases of famous name premium Kolinsky brushes.
I honestly see no point in working with traditional "elite" brushes if neither the hair nor the construction offer reliable feel or even maintain shape. I'm done with limp brushes with wild hair -- it's liberating to regain control thanks to this high-performing synthetic. They're even easier to clean! - Patrick C.

These brushes are on 6" short, black and silver handles.
PROTÉGÉ ROUND - 7500 SERIES
When people think of a fine art brush, they picture a round. The iconic, rounded shape is versatile, allowing artists to lay down washes, fills, and lines of all sizes. Rounds on the larger side can efficiently transform wide surface areas with fewer strokes. Those with finer points excel at delicate lines and intricate details.
PROTÉGÉ WASH - 7510 SERIES
With a sizable head constructed from soft, flat hairs, a wash does what the name implies: laying down big washes of liquid. But, watercolorists know that a wash can also perform the inverse, controlling wet spots by soaking them up.
PROTÉGÉ SCRIPT/RIGGER - 7500L SERIES
The liner brush is similar to the script brush, just with a smaller and even narrower shape. If a project calls for incredibly tight control, a liner brush is your answer.
Yes, these synthetic brushes will last longer than their natural counterparts, but brush cleaning and care should always be a top priority for every artist. If you take care of your brushes, they’ll take care of you. Properly cleaning and storing your brushes after each use will allow them to perform consistently and last longer.
