What sets Protégé apart is its specialized filament and brush shaping. The Round and Script Rigger brushes are engineered with the same full belly and fine needle-point tip found in premium natural Kolinsky sable brushes, allowing them to carry generous amounts of paint while maintaining exceptional precision. Unlike natural Kolinsky hair, however, Protégé offers a firmer feel with noticeably stronger snap and faster recovery, giving artists greater control and cleaner brushwork with less play in the filament.

The smooth synthetic filament delivers precise detail, crisp lines, controlled washes, and fluid paint application across watercolor, acrylic, oil, gouache, ink, and enamel.

Each brush is made with Trekell's Thermyx™ filament. During manufacturing, the bristles are heat-set to create built-in shape memory that helps the brush maintain its point, edge, snap, and performance over time.

If the bristles begin to lose their shape, a quick dip in simmering water can help restore them closer to their original form. For best results, reshape the bristles while warm and allow them to dry in place. Applying Trekell Brush Restorer while the bristles dry will help the bristles hold their shape longer between painting sessions.
