Unlike lower-quality synthetic brushes made with uniform, blunt-cut filaments, this construction provides improved paint pickup, smoother paint flow, refined points, and more responsive handling.

What sets Protégé apart is its Kolinsky-inspired construction. The Round and Script/Rigger shapes feature a full belly and fine needle-point tip similar to traditional Kolinsky sable brushes, providing excellent paint capacity while maintaining the precision needed for fine lines and controlled details.

Protégé has a firmer feel than natural Kolinsky, with strong snap-back and less play in the filament. This gives artists greater control and quick recovery while still providing the paint-carrying capacity and precision associated with a traditional Kolinsky-style brush.

Built to Last

Each brush is made with Trekell’s Thermyx™ filament. During manufacturing, the bristles are heat-set to create built-in shape memory that helps the brushes maintain their points, edges, snap, and performance over time.

If the bristles begin to lose their shape, dip them in simmering water for a few seconds to help restore them closer to their original form. Reshape while warm and allow them to dry in place.
