Trekell Coffin Floater Panel combines a coffin-shaped painting surface and built-in frame into a single piece of Baltic Birch, creating a distinctive surface for artists who want to take their work beyond traditional rectangular panels.

Made from premium 1/2" B/BB Grade Baltic Birch, the panel features a 1/4" routed gap separating the painting surface from the 1/2" outer frame. This creates the visual effect of the artwork floating within its frame while keeping the entire panel as one solid piece of wood.

The surface is pre-sanded with 180-grit sandpaper and left completely unprimed, allowing you to prepare it specifically for your preferred medium and technique. With proper preparation, the Coffin Floater Panel can be used with oil, acrylic, watercolor, gouache, encaustic, ink, enamel, charcoal, pencil, pastel, pyrography, and mixed media.

A CNC-routed keyhole on the back makes the finished artwork ready to hang without additional framing.

Preparing Your Panel

This panel arrives unprimed so you can prepare the surface for your preferred medium. Oil and acrylic artists can seal and prime the Baltic Birch with their preferred ground, while watercolor artists should apply watercolor ground or mount watercolor paper to the painting surface.

For pyrography or techniques where you want to work directly on the natural Baltic Birch, the pre-sanded surface can be used without applying a painting ground.
