GOLDEN Silverpoint / Drawing Ground is an acrylic ground designed to prepare surfaces for silverpoint, metalpoint, and other drawing techniques. It creates a smooth, receptive surface that allows metal styluses to leave controlled, visible marks while also accommodating a range of traditional drawing media.

Apply it to properly prepared paper, canvas, wood panels, and other suitable supports to create a drawing surface beyond traditional paper. Its light-colored surface provides a clean ground for delicate silverpoint lines, detailed drawing, and mixed drawing techniques.

The ground can also be tinted with small amounts of acrylic color, allowing artists to create custom-toned surfaces while maintaining the characteristics needed for drawing.

Using Silverpoint / Drawing Ground

Apply GOLDEN Silverpoint / Drawing Ground to a clean, properly prepared surface and allow it to dry completely before drawing. Multiple thin coats can be used when additional coverage is desired.

Once dry, the prepared surface can be used with a silverpoint stylus or other compatible metalpoint tools. Silverpoint marks are created as the metal stylus is drawn across the prepared surface, leaving fine lines that can develop a natural patina over time.

For custom-toned drawing surfaces, small amounts of acrylic color can be mixed into the ground before application. Because additions can change the working properties of the ground, test your mixture before preparing a final artwork.
