GOLDEN Pastel Ground – 8 oz

GOLDEN Pastel Ground – 8 oz

GOLDEN Pastel Ground is an acrylic ground designed to create a textured, toothy surface for pastels and other dry drawing media. Apply it to a variety of properly prepared supports to create a surface that grabs and holds drawing material.

The ground contains finely ground silica suspended in an acrylic emulsion, creating a coarse texture that allows artists to build up layers of pastel, charcoal, graphite, colored pencil, and other compatible drawing media.

Pastel Ground can be applied to paper, canvas, wood panels, and other suitable surfaces, making it a useful option for artists who want to work with dry media beyond traditional pastel paper.

Using Pastel Ground

GOLDEN Pastel Ground is thick and can be thinned with water for easier application. Apply it with a brush, roller, or other suitable application tool and allow the surface to dry completely before beginning your drawing.

The ground can also be tinted with acrylic color to create a custom background for your artwork. Adding acrylic color can reduce the tooth of the ground, so additions should be kept to a minimum when a strongly textured surface is desired.

The finished surface is intentionally coarse. Artists who prefer a less aggressive texture can adjust the surface or application method to suit their drawing technique.
