Our pets are our companions. Our confidants. They let us laugh, they let us cry. They never judge and are always there when we need them.
One of the bright sides of the past year has been the amount of time that we have spent with our pets. They became our studiomates, our officemates, our classmates and in some cases, the only family members that we were able to see. Thank goodness for our furry, feathered, scaly friends! We’re not quite sure what we would have done without them.
As the world opens back up, let’s honor these unsung heroes. Please join us for our 4th Annual Trekell Juried Pet Portrait Competition.
To enter, all you need to do is purchase one of our official 2022 Pet Portrait Panels and create your entry on it!
All mediums are welcome! Entries must be submitted by August 31st, 2022. Multiple entries are allowed. This year's overall judge will be Pro Team Artist, Kai Lun Qu!
This year, our Trekell Pro Team members, will be judging for the Media Categories:
Anthony Hurd from our Trekell Pro Team will choose his 1st, 2nd and 3rd favorite acrylic pieces and they will be rewarded with Golden Principal 6 Tube Heavy Body Paint Sets, as well as Trekell Acrylic Brush Sets.
Allen Williams from our Trekell Pro Team will choose his 1st, 2nd and 3rd favorite drawing pieces (charcoal, graphite, pastel, colored pencil, etc) and the winners will be rewarded with General Pencil prize packs and Trekell Hog Bristle brushes.
Andrew Cadima from our Trekell Pro Team will choose his 1st, 2nd and 3rd favorite oil pieces and they will be rewarded with Michael Harding Paint Sets and Trekell Oil Brush Sets!
Kelly Mckernan from our Trekell Pro Team will choose her 1st, 2nd and 3rd favorite watercolor pieces and they will be rewarded with Sennelier paint sets and Trekell Watercolor Brush Sets.
Chelsea Leopold from our Trekell Pro Team will choose her 1st, 2nd and 3rd favorite Mixed Media/All Other Media pieces. 1st place will be rewarded with a $150.00 Trekell Gift Certificate. 2nd place will be rewarded with a $100.00 Trekell Gift Certificate. 3rd place will be rewarded with a $50.00 Trekell Gift Certificate.
Below are the Entry Levels and a rundown of our prizes:
5+ years of paintings mostly full time. Comfortable with chosen medium, values, colors, design, painting handling, etc. Painting mostly full-time. Professional (or seeking to become professional)
First Place - $1,000 Cash
Second Place - $750 Cash
Third Place - $500 Cash
Intermediate -
2-4 years of painting experience. Confident use of proper values with chosen medium.
First Place - $500 Cash
Third Place - $150 Cash
Beginner -
Painting off and on for 2 years or less. Little to no experience. Basic knowledge.
Third Place - $100 Cash
Each entry will have 2 chances to win: Overall and Media Categories.
When submitting your entry, you will select your skill level and media choice. When doing this, you will be entered into both categories (Overall and Media) to be judged. You will only be able to win in one category.
Overall will be judged prior to the media categories, which means you have a chance to win cash before the supplies! After the Overall winners have been selected, they will be removed for the second round of judging and will not be able to win additional prizes.
Each person can only win once. However, there is no limit as to how many panels may be purchased and entered.
This is a juried art competition and prizes will be awarded based on skill and creativity. This is not a lotto where winners are chosen at random. Your entry into the competition is your purchase of an official 2022 Trekell Pet Portrait Panel. All entries must be submitted by August 31st, 2022.
