In-Person Demo with The Obanoth from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM
In this demo, The Obanoth will demonstrate the process of creating a stylized acrylic painting using photographic reference. The demonstration will include an overview of how to observe and interpret reference, create an exaggerated and stylized color palette, use dynamic shape language, and how to use your tools to paint flat and opaquely.
The Obanoth will also talk about the development of her personal style, make recommendations for your own studio practice, and answer any questions in a Q&A session during and after the demo. At the end of The Obanoths' Demonstration, the day's finished painting will be raffled off to attendees!
In-Person Demo with Andrew Cadima from 2:00 PM to 3:30 PM
Join Andrew Cadima as he takes an oil painting from concept all the way to completion. Andrew will share insights on how he develops ideas from photo references and translates them to the canvas in the goal of creating an original and creative portrait.
He'll go in depth on how to work directly into paint without the need for a preliminary sketch, how to mix colors quickly and accurately, and how to listen to your creative instincts as you are painting. The end result will be a realistic portrait with a twist. At the end of Andrew's Demonstration, he will be raffling off 3 prints and 2 originals!
In-Person Demo with Nick Runge from 4:00 PM to 5:00 PM
In this demo, Nick Runge will explain how he approaches watercolor painting as it relates to photography. Nick demonstrates how he begins breaking down the overall shapes in pencil, before building up a solid value study with a single color.
After that, he'll discuss how colors can work together to establish the mood and desired direction to bring your art to life. By moving through each transparent layer of paint, Nick will share his thoughts on creating a life-like portrait using both principles of realism and abstraction together. We invite you to join us for this exploration of the face in watercolor! At the end of Nick's Demonstration, Nick will be raffling off 2 watercolor portrait originals, and 3 prints!
